Attention all chocolate lovers and bunny fans:
Easter is finally here!
It’s Easter time and we’re so egg-cited!
This year, Easter falls on 9 April. For us, that means yummy meals, lots of chocolate, and cosy togetherness. Here are some fun facts for you! Did you know that Easter has been held on the first Sunday after the first full moon in spring since A.D. 325? And if you’re still thinking about the perfect Easter decorations: The world record for the largest decorated Easter egg was set in Portugal in 2008. It was 14.79 metres high and 8.4 metres in diameter – that’s a whole lot of egg power, right? Every year on the Thursday before Easter, we dye eggs with bright food colouring, which of course works best with light-coloured or white eggs. We then use these for “egg tapping” competitions, which is a popular Easter tradition here in Tyrol. The two competitors take it in turns to tap their hard-boiled eggs against each other – the one whose egg breaks first loses!
And there’s even more to experience here in Pitztal on your family vacation in Austria in spring: mountain biking, hiking … the list goes on
