Winter in the mountains, spring in the valley

We are ready for the new season!

The mountains are still covered in snow, yet the valley begins to embrace the warmth of spring.

Here in the glacier region, we are blessed with a wonderfully long winter every year. The month of March is ideal for sun-soaked skiing with a stunning panorama of the peaks. The firn snow on the glacier glistens magnificently in the spring sunshine, and the piste conditions are perfect. Nature invites you to carve down the slopes in this magical setting. Adventure seekers looking for off-piste experiences will find exceptional ski touring opportunities in the majestic Pitztal mountains in March. Additionally, in the higher altitudes, a winter hike is still a great option as well.
The further you head down into the valley, the more signs of spring you will see. The final snow patches are receding for the summer while mountain streams babble and flow beside the road. Soon, the first crocuses will poke their heads out of the ground, signalling the arrival of spring.
As the season changes, so does your energy and your desire for adventure. This is the time to venture outdoors and set off on captivating mountain adventures.
But there are even more fantastic things to experience in March. Here are the top three events in the Pitztal valley:

  • Pitztal Wild Face: From 1 March to 3 March 2023, the Pitztal Wild Face will take place, a race on the north face of the Mittagskogel, in which 80 new participants and the five winners of the previous year’s race take part. The four categories are men’s and women’s skiing and men’s and women’s snowboarding.
  • Pitz Nordics: The inaugural cross-country skiing event will take place from 9 to 10 March 2024 in St. Leonhard! This event shines a spotlight on the skill and finesse of Nordic sports.
  • Michael Patrick Kelly live: On 16 March 2024, Michael Patrick Kelly will perform live at Hochzeiger Rockt! The concert kicks off at 1 p.m. with an opener, followed by Michael Patrick Kelly’s performance at 2 p.m., and concludes with an after-show party.
